I have missionary friends, Betty and Charlie. They (spent 15 years in Taiwan where they had their 5 children). One day, God told them to come back to the states. Specifically, Amarillo, Texas. They were surprised, but they obeyed knowing how God had always supplied their needs. They had no money for a house because as non citizens they were not allowed to buy one in Taiwan, they could only rent. Her mother lived in Amarillo, so they all packed into her little house.
Tracy knew when you have a need, the answer is in the Bible. She searched everywhere until she finally found the particular promise God made to His people, and she received it for her own. It was in Deuteronomy 6:11 “I will give you houses you did not build, and vineyards you did not plant.” She said, “That’s IT!” She claimed it right then as her own. She wrote it on sticky pads and stuck them all over the house. Every time one of the kids came in, she would say, “What’s Going to give us?” They would repeat, “Houses we did not build, and vineyards we did not plant.” This went on for two years.
Then one day, a man that Russ had gone to school with called him. He said he was in town for a meeting and wanted to have lunch with him to catch up. At lunch, he told Russ that God had been talking to him and told him to buy Russ a house. He said, “You go pick out one, whatever you want, and let me know.” Of course they did. They found a nice one that would fit their family in a great neighborhood. The man bought it for them and put it in their name, and they said they’ve never had a utility bill or insurance bill to come to them. God is a blesser, and He’s not cheap. He gives good gifts.
Find one of God’s promises, it doesn’t matter to whom He gave it, or how long ago. During your time with Him, praising Him and loving on Him, remind Him of His promises. Thank Him for His promises, and everything He has done for you already. Keep His words in your mouth, say them all the time. As one man said, “The most powerful thing on the planet is words spoken out of the mouth of a believer, combined with authority and faith in the name of Jesus.
