Waiting on God: A True Story of Divine Protection

As I awakened this morning, I noticed that my eyes were seeing better, there was more of a spring in my step, and I heard, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up on wings as Eagles. They shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)#
The word “wait” here, is not to be taken lightly. It means to wait upon, like a waiter waits on a table, ready to perform every task given. In order to do that, he must be close to those he serves.

God’s desire is for us to be in a relationship with Him so that whenever He needs something done in the earth, He knows He can call on us anytime, day or night.

One time, I was in the hospital after surgery. My head hadn’t yet cleared from the effects of the surgery. I was sleeping, when I was being nudged awake. It was a familiar nudge. I was trying to explain to God that my head wasn’t cleared yet. He accepts no excuses from me. I had a dream where I saw my little grandson with a grey face. I knew that meant death. So, in the name of Jesus, I released ministering angels for his protection.

Two weeks later, I ran into his other grandmother who told me the story. She had little Conner for a few days and needed to go into town. She put him in the front seat beside her (this was the days before car seats) when she discovered she had left something in the house. She ran back inside to get it. Being only 18 months old, he loved the steering wheel. He was playing with it when he put the car in neutral. The driveway was slanted toward the cliff in front their house. She ran back outside just in time to see the car rolling toward the cliff. She reached the car and pulled the door open, but it was going at such a speed that it knocked her down. It ran into their brick mailbox and shattered it, and kept going across the street heading toward the edge of the cliff, with Conner still “driving” it. Suddenly, just as the car reached the edge of the cliff, it was 1stopped, by a little bush. A neighbor had witnessed the whole thing, she ran out and pulled Conner out of the car. Grandmother was still lying in the middle of the road unable to move. Now she is afraid for herself too. She just knows a car will come up over the hill and hit her, and she can’t move. When she was knocked down, the force broke her shoulder. She couldn’t move, but angels were all around waiting for the prayer of a believer to release them. The car was moving with such a force as to shatter a brick mailbox. It knocked her to the ground and broke her shoulder, but was caught on a small shrub, at the very edge of the cliff. I was awakened in the hospital, still groggy from anesthesia, and told to pray for the protection of Conner.

We are God’s hands and feet in the earth. Jesus died on the cross to retrieve everything Satan stole from us in the Garden of Eden. He went to hell to make an open show of Satan. He whipped everyone there and took back the keys of death, hell, and the grave! It now belongs to us if we will use it. We must “wait” on God with spiritual ears open, ready for every assignment.
